Summary:
This was one of the best rockhounding spots near Duluth that I have found. All the other spots I visited to the South had been heavily picked over. I found excellent pieces of jasper here, even though I came with the intent to find agates. Agates seem present in the area, but I only found little bits and chips of chalcedony.
Strangely, I also found a large sedimentary rock with what appears to be fossilized stems running through it here as well. Fossils are few and far between along the shores of Lake Superior so that was unexpected.
You’ll find a parking lot has a nice path that leads down to the water. Be respectful of the private land owners that border the access path to get down to the water from the parking area.

3 Helpful Tools
Chest Waders
Chest waders were the single best investment I made for exploring the shores of Lake Superior.
Agate Scoop
An agate scoop is helpful for both keeping dry and picking up rocks faster. You don’t need a fancy one. Mine is a golf club welded to a kitchen scoop.
Classifier
A classifier is helpful if you’re a fan of small agates and stones. One with a larger, 1-inch mesh would be what I’d pick.
