Description:
Tucked away in Western Arkansas, but not too far away from I-30 is Crater of Diamonds State Park. Not only is this is the only publicly accessible pay-to-dig diamond mine in the United States, but the entire world.

The largest diamond found here weighed in at just over 40 carats. The source of the diamonds is highly unique: the Prairie Creek Lamproite. Across the planet, most diamonds are found in kimberlites instead. You are also likely to come across pyrope garnets as well. It’s finder’s keepers here. Whatever you find comes home with you and your family.

Seasonality:

This site is open year-round. It closes for New Years, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas. Dig area hours are 8AM-4PM daily. Discovery center hours are 8AM-5PM daily.

Road condition notes:

This site has fully paved roads and you can get here with any car or truck.
