Description:
The Four Peaks Mine is actively being worked. Miners are targeting a red-violet amethyst that rivals some of the best specimens in the world. The helicopter tour takes visitors for a somewhat brief experience… this isn’t a place to figure you’ll be hammering and chiseling all day.
Reports vary drastically on what quality of material can be found during the tours.
Seasonality:
The published fall 2026 dates are September 19, October 17, and November 14. Book early as seats are limited.

Paved roads in downtown Scottsdale (to the rock shop).
Additional information:
Wear clothes that you’re willing to get dirty for your tour. You will be in a mine, even though the day begins in a nice downtown storefront.
